Future Shorts has provided a thoughtful and witty programme for the 27+One Festival in Moscow, Dec 4-6. The festival - which presents a selection of humorous and offbeat works form the 27 countries of EU and Russia - is dedicated to promoting short film as a medium.

Dir: Nacho Vigalondo / Spain / 2005 / 10’30 “The follies of youth are lost on the old.” Written, directed and starring Nacho Vigalondo as a man who is driven over the edge at an arcade, and attempts to prove his self-worth on a bumper car ride. The Yellow Smiley Face Dir: Constantin Popescu / Romanian / 2008 /15’00 The Yellow Smiley Face” is a heart-warming comedy about two old and computer illiterate parents who try to get in touch with their son, who lives abroad, by means of Yahoo Messenger. La Parabolica Dir: Xavi Sala / Spain / 2007 / 12’00 During the broadcast of the pope's visit, Vicente’s television breaks down. Desperate, he decides to make a homemade parabolic dish. Trout Dir: Johnny Barrington / UK / 2006 / 10’08 Life for a young Scottish couple is altered after a bizarre chain of events. LIAR Dir: China Moo-Young / UK / 2005 / 10’15 Four characters, a drag queen, a city boy, a lad, and a loner are all uttering falsehoods, inflated fibs, and tragic untruths…nobody knows who’s telling the truth because every one it seems is a LIAR. Quietsch Dir: Baran Bo Odar / Germany / 2005 / 6’11 A musical of sorts, one with noises, creaking beds and three unruly kids.
