FUTURE SHORTS AT KEN LOACH SCREENING AND Q & APoverty and Homelessness Action Week 2008 welcomes director Ken Loach to The Prince Charles Cinema to introduce his latest film. The film will be preceded by a Q&A with the Palme d'Or laureate, and two short films curated by Future Shorts. ![]() The main feature, Its A Free World , is the story of a driven young woman's attempts to help new immigrants into work with a rookie recruitment agency lands her in a twilight zone between gangmasters, employment agencies and the migrant workers they place. ![]() The two short films are; The Nautical Education, shot with both digital video and an early 20th century camera, this visually sumptuous guide prepares a wishful boy for a Cousteau-esque life in the deeps and One Word for Cinema in which 33 international feature directors describe cinema in a single word or phrase.
